Women Connect Meets the Car Wash Boss Lady, Bunmi Opakunle

Bunmi Opakunle is the CEO of Batinezz carwash. She is popularly called the Car Wash Boss Lady.

It all started a few years ago, when she came back from the United States, having come back home to the country, she looked at the economy and her immediate environment, and saw several opportunities around her, but then narrowed it down to car wash services.

First, it came as an inspiration from God. Although, she doesn't have any formal training in the business, her experience in Car wash services during her stay overseas gave her a right footing as a startup in the business. It gave her the opportunity to understudy professionals in the business. And she learnt a whole lot. So, when she conceived the idea of running a Car wash center in Nigeria, it had to be thorough and professional.

Bunmi says that Starting and running a car wash outfit in countries such as the US or UK is quite demanding as the process entails a lot more than just securing a location. Also, out there, car wash services centers offer a lot more than just hands.

They offer full service washes, self service washes, rollover washes, express washes, and much more. However, while, it is true that they have more car wash options than we do here, we must appreciate the peculiarity of our environment and how operators like them have been able to infuse a certain degree of professionalism to what they do.

At Bartinezz Carwash Centre, they do car body wash, Car Engine Wash, Car Pick up and drop off, Car Vacuuming, (Rug and Carpet cleaning, deodorizing and sanitizing). They  also do car detailing and waxing and Tyre care. And its because they want to make sure that their customers are happy with their cars, they also provide sale of car care products and accessories.

She explained how, At first, her family and most of her friends couldn't understand why she chose to go into car wash services, so they found it hard to accept the idea. As far as they were concerned, it is a profession for men and not women. More so, she did not start out employing men to work for her while she sat back and relaxed, she actually did the car washing herself. And when her family saw her passion and how determined she was, they had no choice but to support her. And they have been very supportive.

It is not very often you walk into a car wash center and see a woman clean your car even to the tiniest details. From the day she  decided to embrace this line of business, she made up her mind to put all her energy into making sure every car owner leaves the center happy. So what they have done is to make Bartinezz Car wash a unique car wash center indeed. No surprises, no disappointments.

Every business faces challenges, so There were times she thought of giving up, but her passion for the business kept her going. The passion to succeed kept driving her.

Most of the time, when a client comes in with his car for them to wash, at first they express doubt, thinking it is just an executive thing for her. They would be like ‘you, wash my car! Madam, please let your boys do it’. But by the time they see how involved she is from start to finish, they change their mindset because they are impressed and satisfied with the outcome.
